Julio started volunteering with PMI Dallas Chapter in December 2018 as Web Director. He is managing the chapter’s website, designing graphics for social media, advertising and other marketing projects of the PMI Dallas Chapter. He enjoys Chapter events such as the Monthly Dinner Meetings and PMI Dallas Toastmasters Club because he considers them a good opportunity to network with project management professionals.
Julio has been working as a freelance IT Project Manager since 2010. He is a Systems Engineer and has been PMP certified since 2015. Originally from Colombia, he moved to Texas in 2018 to start a new chapter in his life. Julio is a big fan of motorsports like F1, Indycar, MotoGP among others and enjoys working out at least four times per week.
Recently he was elected as a vice-president of Applied Project Management for 2020 in the PMI Dallas Board of Directors election.
"One of my priorities when I came to the U.S. was to continue my career in project management and contribute to PMI through the local chapter in the Dallas area. Being a member and volunteer of the PMI Dallas Chapter has helped me meet more professionals.
I'm very surprised about how the PMI Dallas Chapter opens its doors for all people who want to advance in their careers. As VP of Applied PM, I want to impact communities beyond the professional field such as colleges, high schools, and non-profit organizations by using project management skills."
If you see Julio at any of the PMI Dallas Chapter events, approach him. He enjoys talking about his personal journey from South America to the U.S, as well as his career insights learned from his professional multicultural experiences.
On behalf of the chapter, we thank Julio for his invaluable contributions to the chapter!
