Why I Volunteer

"In the beginning, I wanted to learn from all chapter leaders, one event, at a time. Once I learned so much from chapter leaders and members, I was eager to give back to all chapter members."

Mei Linn, President

"I volunteer because I want to give back to the profession which has given so much to me, and I enjoy helping others advance their knowledge in Project Management."
Joe Carson, Past President

"I volunteer because it allows me to be a resource for project management practitioners across DFW while also continuing my own learning from our awesome members."
Jeremy Ponce, VP Membership

"I began volunteering for the PMI Dallas Chapter over five years ago because I wanted to learn more about project management. During this time, I learned so much from PM professionals from different industries and now I am enjoying giving back to the chapter and our community."
Natalia Fisher, VP Communications

"I have several reasons to volunteer for the PMI Dallas Chapter:

  • PMI has provided great assistance to me over the years in my career, so I want to support the organization so that it will continue in the mission of assisting people attain certification, sharpen their skills, and provide assistance in the furtherance of their careers.
  • There have been a few great mentors in my life over the course of my career and they each have provided me with insight into myself, the industry, and how to be successful. Mentoring has been important to me long before I volunteered at PMI, but it certainly has allowed me to assist more people than I could have imagined.
  • Being the VP of Finance has afforded me the opportunity to help maintain the health of the PMI Dallas Chapter so it is able to provide the maximum benefit for the members. While not my core expertise, when called to serve, I took on the challenge and expanded my skill set."

Jerry Glasscock, VP Finance

"Volunteering with the Chapter has provided great ad hoc learning experiences (such as planning & organizing events) that I otherwise would not have had. Originally, I volunteered since I was new to DFW and wanted to network with the local project management professionals. Mission accomplished and exceeded expectations since some are now friends for life! I volunteer to stay current with what is going on in the profession, as well as pay it forward for the next gen project managers."
Ariane Stone, VP Professional Development
